Koelle Simpson is a world-renowned life coach, horse whisperer, founder of the Koelle Institute for Equus Coaching, and leader of the Equus Coaching Movement. After experiencing early childhood trauma, horses became an important part of her journey to rebuilding a sense of trust in herself and the world around her. The safety, honesty, and wisdom she witnessed in these powerful four-legged teachers offered a profound roadmap to reconnect with her own inner wisdom.
Koelle has been honored to study with some of the world’s greatest teachers, including world-famous equine trainer Monty Roberts and best-selling author, life coach, and The Oprah Magazine columnist, Dr. Martha Beck. She works with individuals, families, and institutions around the world.
In 2006, Koelle founded the Koelle Institute out of a desire to share her life-transforming insights with others. 70% of adults in the U.S. alone have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives. (NCCBH). One in three women and one and six men experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime (NSVR).
Koelle’s work helps to provide hope and practical tools for integrating our past experiences of trauma. This integration process enables us to re-engage with the in the world around us and take the powerful steps needed to form healthy, safe relationships with one another.

Given Koelle Simpson’s extensive journey in recovering from childhood sexual abuse, she is a supporter of women stepping out of the shadows to reclaim their power after sexual trauma. Koelle seeks to foster and supportive, insightful and inclusive conversations that help us to better understand the cause of these behaviors and remain curious for the steps needed to create a different culture. She welcomes the opportunity to speak at conferences, events, or with any media publications that have been a part of supporting the #MeToo Movement as well as groups and organizations that support documentaries in this topic such as Miss Representation, The Mask You Live, I am Jane Doe, and others.
Current research is enabling us to gaining a better understand for how the mind, body and emotions work in harmony with one another. Thanks to this recognition, we understand the vital importance for clients to be able to viscerally reengage with the body and overall nervous system in order to truly transform their old strategies and ignite new ways of engaging with the world around them. As as result, many therapist are stepping beyond their traditional model of talk therapy and incorporating Equus Coaching to help offer their clients a playful and highly effective way to engage with the somatic expressions of the body and transform patterns of trauma – all while forming a new friendships with horses.
